If you get the chanel BBC America, so yourself a favor and watch Top Gear. New episodes are on Monday nights at 8pm.
This show is about cars. I know it sounds boring, but the three hosts (ages 35-55) are not just hilarious but the producers give them ridiculous challenges each week. So in addition to reviewing and racing some of the most expensive cars on Earth, they do stupid challenges like make their own electric car out of spare parts for other machines.
I am watching an older episode now where there is a 5 part challenge. They don’t know what the challenges ahead of them are.
Step 1: Pretend they’re 17 year old boys and buy & insure a car with only 2500 pounds. Once they have it, meet at the schoolyard.
Step 2. Using whatever money they have leftover, customize the car to impress 17 year old girls. Jeremy didn’t have any money leftover. James bought a nice stereo and Richard got a body kit. Drive to festival grounds 60 km away. (on the way, when James stops to “wee” Richard & Jeremy change out his Bach cd for some loud, obnoxious crap music and super glue all the buttons on his new stereo then steal the remote)
Step 3. The challenge involves what would have been a crazy music fest weekend of camping & mud. They simply pack all the tents & supplies in their respective cars and get out to the top of the car park- an easy race. But, the festival grounds are wet and the cars slip and slide up the hill for hours.
Step 4. Arrive home 3 hours after your curfew and don’t wake your parents up! Richard is successful pushing his S-coupe, Jeremy’s Volvo is so heavy he accidentally pushes it into the shed and James’ VW si so quiet he drives it into the driveway then jsut as he is about to win, Jeremy uses the remote to turn his radio back on full blast.
Step 5. Race around the track, hitting every obstacle in your path, impress 17 year old girls with your hand-brake turn, whoever does it the fastest wins the race.
I won’t tell you who wins because it is such a shock… jsut watch the show already. In addition to learning a little about cars and laughing your ass off, you’ll learn hilarious Brit phrases like, ” It is much like a Scottish Restaurant menu. Not a lot in it and nothing you want.” Do you know what quid is? Or that a boot is part of a car, not you wear on your foot?
Note to Krisann: I am making you watch this episode when you get home tonight. You WILL love this show. -your tumor.
Oh my god, does anyone else watch Mtv’s Teen Mom? I am addicted to it. I just want to kill some of these girls and their boyfriend/fiance/baby daddy. A while back there was a special featuring these girls who happened to get pregnant. This is like a follow up series to show how they’re all doing with the choices they made. Some decided to try to make it as a couple and raise the baby. Others stayed at home and their parents kicked in help. One couple decided to give their baby up for adoption.
Maci’s fiance, Ryan, is the second biggest jerk, next to Amber’s fiance. He is adorable but so passive. He seems to occasionally want to stay together with her but makes no effort to be mature or responsible. He even argues to get her to kiss him and come 90% of the way to meet him instead of just bending over and kissing her. He decides to go out with friends without even asking her if it’s okay to leave the son at home with her. He jsut ditches her with the kid. Seems like ten minutes after he agrees to change and start taking responsibility he takes off again. “Did i not tell you to work it out with me?” He says. Seriously?.
Amber is so overdramatic and Gary loves her and the daughter but he thinks that he doesn’t have to do anything around the house or to help with the baby as long as he is paying the bills and keeping up with rent. They get into huge fights at least twice per episode. Why can’t she live with her dad in his little apartment? I don’t know I must have missed that episode. Instead she insists on spending what little money she gets on renting hotel rooms by the week.
Farrah is a spoiled little tramp. She makes no effort to be a mother to her little girl, always pawning her off on her mother while she goes out with guys she meets god knows where. She is lucky her parents are willing to put up with her crap and get stomped all over. She needs to realize how good she has it, she could be struggling to find a place to stay or to support herself and that little girl like so many of these other kids. Where is the father of the baby anyway? What kind of irresponnsible jerk is he?
The couple who chose to give their baby up for adoption is doing the best of all of them. They have stayed together and support each other through their stressful moments with family and life in general. Tyler’s Dad feels that if he had kept that baby he’d be out begging for food for it door to door. That’s no life for a baby, dude! The baby’s better off with a family who can afford to keep a roof over the baby’s head- not a grandpa begging for baby’s food. Tyler’s father harasses them continuously that they made the wrong decision giving up their baby and they question it themselves occasionally but they talk about it together and always remember that they did it for their little girl and though it is difficult to live with, they made that decision for her. They’re the most mature of all the people on this show.
Overall, the show is completely addicting. It’s frustrating, but that’s what teenagers are- frustrating, immature, overdramatic little jerks. Some of them come from broken homes and never had a good home life and never learned how a functional home works, or one of the teens is trying but the other isn’t as dedicated to parenting as the other. I hope that kids watch it- it sure as hell doesn’t glamorize teenage motherhood in any way. It’s very harsh reality for these kids and that’s why I love it!
I love late night with Jimmy Fallon so much. It is the absolute best show on at night. He is hilarious, creative, and oh so original. Who else could pull off having a sketch titled Lick It? I have read some reviews that call him akward but I feel that they’re missing it! His style is so different from other late night hosts, they all host so similarly. They’re typical, and their style is stale. They all have akward moments but when he does it its on purpose and its funny.
I love when he does his Regis impression. And tonight he did a combination Matthew Broderick and Regis that had me cracking up.
I also truly appreciate that he jokes with the guests and the audience and the Roots unscripted. When he talks to his guests its not so obvious that he is working down a list of topics they want to discuss. The whole thing is more casual than the traditionally formal late night show where it follows a strict format and everyone has their roles defined. He is true to his own style and his show reflects that versus the host working within the confines of what the show has been for years.
It just seems like he treats them like friends, that a lot of his guests respond in a different way than they do on regular late night shows because the way he approaches the interview.
Anyway, NBC don’t ever get rid of Jimmy Fallon! He is the best!!!
You’ll find it on HBO, just premiered tonight. I caught a preview of it earlier today and figured I would try it out and I’m so glad I did! It was sweet and inspiring. *Spoilers follow*
Sweet because the main character is a woman who has a heart. She moves to a city in Botswana and people are drawn to her caring nature, she looks after those around her like a mother. She is lenient on a man who reports a fraudulent claim because of how he uses the money he gets. I am tired of predictable television and I was frequently surprised by her attitude and the way she cared.
I am inspired by her because she moves to a city she has no connection with and starts fresh, in a career she has no experience with. She is learning as she goes and has already developed a love interest. So far, she is very successful, despite her mistakes with some customers.
The outlook is very good for this show! I will definately be watching again and I recommend it to you!
I even went and got the book on Kindle. Get more info at http://www.hbo.com/no1ladiesdetectiveagency/
